Speaking of air filters, everyone must be familiar with them. The most common air filter on trucks: inertial air filter. The filter elements are two large and one small. The big one on the outside is called the "main filter element", and the small one inside is called the "safety filter element".

Questions about filter maintenance?

1. The position of the dust outlet should be at the lowest part of the filter. When the inside of the filter is negative pressure, the air will enter the filter from the dust valve. Under the action of the internal and external pressure difference, not only the unfiltered air will directly enter the air filter element, but also the filtered dust cannot be discharged, resulting in a greatly reduced filtering effect and service life of the air filter.

In rainy days or in environments with high air humidity, you can often clean the dust discharge port and dust discharge channel to see if there is any poor dust discharge.

2. The filter paper of the safety filter element has high permeability, low resistance and low filtration efficiency. It is not allowed to start the engine when only the safety filter element is installed. If dust is found on the safety filter element, it is most likely that the main filter element is damaged, and the main filter element and safety filter element should be replaced immediately.

3. Filter cleaning sequence

(1) First, remove the main filter element, block both ends of the filter element with a clean cloth or rubber stopper, brush the dust on the surface of the filter element along the crease direction with a soft brush, and gently tap the end face of the filter element to make the dust fall off. It is forbidden to use liquid cleaning during cleaning to prevent the filter element from adhering to dust and causing the filter element to be blocked.

(2) Secondly, check whether the main filter element is damaged. Check whether the upper and lower end faces are warped and uneven; check whether the rubber sealing ring of the main filter element is damaged; check whether there is dust inside the main filter element. If the above problems exist, the main filter element should be replaced immediately.

(3) Finally, use a strong flashlight to check whether the filter element is damaged. Do not remove the safety filter element during inspection. If the safety filter element is damaged, replace it immediately. In the process of cleaning the air filter housing, use a clean rag to wipe the inner wall of the housing clean, and check whether the dust discharge valve can discharge dust normally.

4. Frequent cleaning of the air filter will not give full play to the filtering ability of the filter element, and will also cause early damage to the filter element.

After each cleaning of the filter element, its dust holding capacity will be reduced by 20%-40%. As the number of cleanings increases, the ash capacity of the filter element will gradually decrease. When the filter element has been cleaned about 6 times, its ash-holding capacity is basically lost, and a new filter element should be replaced immediately.

5. The ash storage capacity is a sign of the service life of the air filter element. When the air filter needs to be maintained and the air intake resistance reaches the set value, the indicator light will light up and a maintenance signal will be issued, prompting the driver to maintain or replace the air filter immediately.
